About the Pathfinders Banquet
This organization exists to reach the inner-city at-risk forgotten children and youth of Reno and Sparks (Washoe County), Nevada with the Good News of Jesus Christ. Each September they hold their annual fundraising banquet. SYNC has supplied and coordinated the volunteers needed for this event since 2018.
How SYNC Helps
Starting in early July we make hundreds of phone calls to get volunteer commitments, many of them SYNC regulars. We could need as many as 80 volunteers, depending upon what is planned for the event. Team leaders are chosen, teams built, and procedures created and communicated. Training is supplied for some jobs. Volunteer positions include anything from phone calls before the event to actual service at the event. Jobs include setting the banquet tables, helping to set up the silent auction items, performing as silent auction runners, greeting the guests and directing them to their tables, plating the food, serving the tables, putting everything back in order and cleaning up after the event, and more as needed. We have male volunteers that set the tables up and take them down, while others keep water glasses filled. This is a big job for our SYNC ladies. However, we look forward to it every year!
