SYNC has a new logo!!!! Thanks to input from our ladies and the expertise of Jen Masterson, SYNC now displays our full name along with a ‘Y’ rich in symbolism.

The days of the early church were dangerous for Christians because Roman soldiers were constantly on the lookout for ‘Jesus followers.’ The story goes that Christians devised a way to tell if it was safe to talk with someone new. Initially, one would draw half of a fish in the sand. If the other person completed the fish, that person was also a Christian, therefore safe. To the casual person or the soldiers, it appeared to be just scuffing in the sand.

We chose the incomplete fish for this reason as well as it representing our unfinished, ongoing work as kids of the Kingdom seeking to serve with gifts and talents we’ve been given by God..

The fish, ichthys in Greek, daag in Hebrew, is known throughout the globe to represent the love and miracles of Jesus. Jesus called his disciples to be ‘fishers of men.’ Matt 4:19 He fed thousands with fish (and bread). Matt 14:15-21, Mark 6:34-44, Luke 9:11-17, John 6:5-13 He even cooked a breakfast of fish for his apostles! John 21:9-14

Our desire is to represent Jesus well. Because He first loved us, we love others. We seek to see others as Jesus sees them, to love lavishly and serve with excellence. With thanksgiving, we direct all glory and praise to our Jesus, the King of Kings and Lord of Lords!
